Winners and Authors

Ravine Writing Contest Winners

We would like to thank both the writers and judges for great work in our first year of the Ravine writing contest. We had a wide range of subjects and styles, which made judging even more challenging than it usually is.

The winners are, in order: Jack Owen for A Pioneer in Putnam; Ann Marie Skordy for The Magic Forest; G.A. Teske for My Good Friend Dan; Rob Mattson for The Enemy Entered Palatka.

The winning pieces are appearing in The Ravine, which will be available to buy at Read (Think) Books for a nominal amount, and is published here on our site, (or use the link to the right of this post under Pages).

Also printed in the collection is an essay written by Misty J. Watkins, submitted in her memory by Ramicah Watkins.

The judges: Dan Wilson, instructor at Crescent City High School and Saint Johns River State College; Jamie Morris, writing consultant and director of Woodstream Writers; and Katie Purcell, library media specialist at Palatka High School.
